1st LD: Inmates take vice warden, others hostage in Taiwan: Reports

An unknown number of armed inmates in Kaohsiung Prison in southern Taiwan have reportedly taken the deputy warden and two other people hostage, according to TV reports on Wednesday afternoon.

Gun shots were heard at the prison and heavily armed SWAT police were despatched to the scene.

There are five or six armed prisoners, media reports said.
