Gambia may reject Liberia club request for venue amid Ebola fear

The Gambian government may reject Liberia's request to play their African club championship game in Banjul, official source told Xinhua on Sunday.
Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) are planning to play both their CAF Champions league matches against Real de Banjul in Gambia and requested a venue from the Gambia FootBall Federation to play all their home matches in Gambia.
"The club was banned by CAF from playing their home fixtures in Liberia in the wake of the ongoing Ebola epidemic outbreak. In Liberia, several people were killed since the outbreak".
The Ebola epidemic outbreak has claimed thousands of lives in the sub region, is said to have affected more people in Monrovia and amid fears of its spread, CAF urged the BYC, via a circular sent last week, to look for an alternative venue as a precautionary measure.
"Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire were initially among countries been considered by the Liberian Football Association but they have now turned their attention to Gambia," according to official sources.
"Their request is not yet confirmed and discussions are going on, but it is likely that Gambia will reject it due to the Ebola fear."
Gambia closed its borders for people from the Ebola-hit countries and have also banned Airlines for picking passengers from countries hit by Ebola.
"We are still firm to our stands to close our borders for entries for those coming from Ebola-hit nations. It is not for any other reason but precautions," Xinhua was told. Endi
