Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least three people were killed and eight others wounded on Saturday when rebels fired a mortar shell on an area in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, according to local press.

The mortar round slammed into the Bab al-Faraj area in Aleppo, Sham FM radio reported.

The oppositional Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported the incident, saying that children were among those injured.

It also reported that Syrian helicopters dropped barrel bombs on the rebel-held al-Myasar neighborhood in eastern Aleppo, killing one man and injuring others.

The Observatory said the Syrian helicopters also used barrel bombs on other rebel-held parts of Aleppo, leaving unknown number of causalities. Endit
