Tokyo stock gain 0.82 pct on crude rally

Tokyo stocks closed 0.82 percent higher Friday on rallying crude oil prices, but gains were limited ahead of U.S. jobs report.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 143.88 points, from Thursday to 17,648.50.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 7.08 points, or 0.50 percent, to 1,417. 19.

Major gainers included steel, energy and real estate issues.

The turnover was 2,393.4 billion yen (about 20.40 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
