Jordan's war on terror will continue: king

Xinhua, February 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday said Jordan's war on terrorism will continue, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

King Abdullah made the remarks during a visit to the family of the killed Jordanian pilot in his hometown of Karak.

The king said the pilot died defending Islam as a Muslim, adding that the pilot is a hero.

Also on Thursday, Jordan Air Force warplanes launched air strikes against several targets of the Islamic State (IS) in Syria, the state-run Jordan TV reported.

Earlier this week, the IS displayed the video of burning the captured Jordanian pilot to death.

Following the incident, the king said on Wednesday that Jordan's response to the killing of the pilot will be harsh. He said Jordan is engaged in this war to protect Islam and its values.

The 26-year-old Jordanian pilot was one of pilots of the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition, which comprises of several Arab forces, including Jordan. Endit
