China police apprehend 847 telecom fraud suspects

Chinese police said on Wednesday they have arrested 847 people allegedly involved in personal information trading and telecommunications fraud.

Police have busted 107 gangs in 27 provincial regions across the country in a three-month campaign that started at the beginning of the year.

Among the 847, 14 are suspected of leaking personal information, 92 of selling information and the remaining 741 of telecommunications fraud, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The ministry vowed to maintain the crackdown on the unlawful activities to protect personal information security. Endi
