Indian PM sacks another cabinet member within one week

Xinhua, February 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday sacked another cabinet member, Union home secretary Anil Goswami, for barring the arrest of a former government official accused of corruption, said local TV reports.

Goswami was blamed for dissuading the arrest of former Union minister Matang Sinh when the latter was being questioned by police in connection with a fund scam last Saturday.

Earlier, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh briefed Modi about allegations that Anil Goswami had tried to stall the arrest of Congress politician Mantang Sinh in connection with the scam.

This is the second time for Modi to sack his cabinet members within one week. He sacked his Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh last Wednesday. Endi
