Ireland allocates funds for regional, local roads

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ireland announced details of this year's 294-million-euro (about 336 million U.S. dollars) investment program for regional and local roads on Tuesday.

The investment program will cover the maintenance and development costs of nearly 2,000 km of regional and local roads, according to Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe.

"The priority is to maintain the existing road network, and I have been able to protect funding for the key road maintenance and strengthening programs for the local authorities," Donohoe said.

The main features of the investment program include maintenance, surface dressing, road improvement and strengthening works, as well as specific and strategic regional and local roads projects. Endit
