Redknapp resigns as QPR boss

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Harry Redknapp quits as manager of struggling Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, saying his knee surgery would impact the Premier League club's battle to stay in the English top flight.

"Sadly, I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks," said Redknapp, former Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur manager.

The 67-year-old Redknapp arrived at Loftus Road in November 2012. His announcement came just a day after QPR chairman Tony Fernandes tweeted there would be "no more cheque book" at the relegation-threatened London club as the January transfer window closed Monday. Endi
