Two civilians hurt as blast hits public market in S. Philippines

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least two people were hurt in a bomb explosion Tuesday inside a public market in southern Philippine province of Sultan Kudarat.

Diosdado Pallasigue, Isulan town mayor, said the blast around 11:20 noon occurred at the town's public market.

He said two civilians were injured in the explosion.

"We are investigating the attack. Our bomb experts are trying to determine what was used in the explosion," he said.

No one claimed responsibility for the explosion. Earlier, the town was placed on high alert for possible retaliatory attacks by rebels.

The incident occurred a day after series of text messages about possible bomb attacks were circulating in the region following the death of Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, also known as Marwan and JI Commander Basit Usman last month. Endi
