Wolfsburg in last-minute bargain over Schuerrle

Xinhua, February 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are hoping to complete a last-minute deal to sigh Chelsea's Germany midfielder Andre Schuerrle on Monday but is unable to agree on a fee with the Premier League club.

Wolfsburg registered Schuerrle on the German Football League's transfer list by a midday deadline and have hours to complete the deal on the last day of the January transfer window.

Club general manager Klaus Allofs admits that the transfer was stalled.

"It's about money, that's simple to answer," Allofs said.

It is believed that Chelsea wants around 32 million euros (36.2 million dollars) for the 24-year-old midfielder, who moved to Chelsea in 2013 from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of some 22 million euros.

SV Hamburg completed the signing of 28-year-old Chile midfielder Marcelo Diaz from Basel while VfB Stuttgart confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast international Geoffroy Serey Die, who is currently playing at the Africa Cup of Nations. Endi
