Syrian airstrikes kill 12 in rebel-held town

Xinhua, February 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 12 people were reportedly killed and 25 others wounded on Monday when the Syrian air force carried out four airstrikes against a rebel-held town in southern Syria, a monitoring group reported.

The Syrian warplanes struck the town of Jassem in the countryside of the southern province of Daraa, the oppositional Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, adding that the death toll could rise due to the numbers of critically wounded people.

The Observatory said it had documented 2014 airstrikes carried out by the Syrian warplanes on rebel-held areas nationwide during the first month of 2015.

It said the month-long airstrikes killed 271 civilians and 190 rebel fighters. Endit
