Sudden snowfalls cause traffic chaos in Germany

Xinhua, January 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The sudden snowfalls have caused several traffic accidents across Germany, as well as blackouts in some places, German media reported on Friday.

According to German media Focus Online, police reported 33 accidents caused by icy road in the German city of Osnabrueck, including 13 trucks that had jack-knifed or got stuck on the freeway.

However, there were no injuries reported.

In the southern Black Forest in Germany, a tour bus, as well as several cars and trucks, was stuck in the snow, said police.

In the state of Thuringia, the police also registered two dozen of accidents caused by packed snow.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), Thuringia is expected to have 15 to 20 centimetres of snow until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Northern Germany also expects more snow and thunderstorms, said the DWD on Friday. Enditem
