Car explosion in northern Russian city likely gang-related, local police say

Xinhua, January 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police in the Russian city of Arkhangelsk have told local media that an explosion in a vehicle in the downtown area this afternoon on Thursday could likely be tied to organized crime in the northern port city.

A 25-year-old man was hospitalized with minor burns following the explosion of the parked Mitsubishi vehicle, but was later released from care.

Local investigative teams are currently working to determine the cause of the explosion. No other injuries were reported from the scene.

A decision regarding possible criminal charges will be made as the investigation proceeds, although law enforcement agencies have confirmed that a mafia connection appears likely. Endite
