Myanmar's government delegation on Wednesday reached an agreement with protesting student representatives to hold a quartet talks on amending the parliament-approved National Education Law, local media reported.

The demand was raised during a meeting in Nay Pyi Taw between the government delegation, headed by Minister at the President's Office U Aung Min, and 10 representatives from the student side. (Myanmar Government-Protesting Students-Deal)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan lawyers and civil society organizations staged a large protest outside the Supreme Court in Colombo on Wednesday demanding the island's controversial chief justice to resign from his post.

With slogans saying "Send CJ44 home," the protestors demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Justice Mohan Peiris, claiming that his appointment was illegal. (Sri Lanka-Protest)

KATHMANDU -- Amid the deepening political crisis, Nepal's main opposition party UCPN (Maoist) on Wednesday decided to boycott the meetings of parliamentary committees to press the ruling parties to come to a compromise, party leaders said.

Earlier, the party had decided not to attend the meetings of the constitution drafting process. According to leader Agni Sapkota, his party will not attend any meetings of parliamentary committees. Currently, there is no parliamentary session in Nepal. (Nepal-Opposition-Boycott)

KABUL -- Several key minister candidates, nominated by Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, were endorsed by lawmakers at the ongoing national legislative session here on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolesi Jirga, the Lower House of Parliament, gave vote of confidence to Noor-ul-Haq Ulumi to lead the ministry of interior affairs, Eklil Hakimi as minister of finance while Salauddin Rabbani was endorsed as the minister of foreign affairs. ( Afghansitan-Key Ministers-Approval)

ISLAMABAD -- At least seven people were killed and three others injured on Wednesday evening when a U.S. drone launched a strike in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region of North Waziristan, local media reported.

According to the reports, the U.S. pilot-less plane fired two missiles at a house in the Shawal area of the restive tribal region bordering Afghanistan. (Pakistan-U.S. Drone-Attack) Endi
