Latvian construction costs rise 0.4 pct in 2014

Construction costs in Latvia inched up 0.4 percent in 2014 from a year before, the country's national statistics office reported Wednesday.

Builders' wages climbed 3.1 percent, operating costs of machinery and equipment went up 0.4 percent, and the price of construction materials rose by 0.4 percent on average last year.

In December 2014, Latvian construction costs rose by 0.9 percent from the same month a year ago as builders' wages grew 3.8 percent and the operating costs of machinery and equipment increased 2.0 percent.

In monthly terms, Latvian construction costs rose by 0.5 percent in December, with construction material prices climbing 1.0 percent, builders' wages edging up 0.3 percent and operating costs of machinery and equipment dropping 0.3 percent, according to statistical data. Enditem
