Nepal's main opposition to boycott parliamentary meetings for compromise

Amid the deepening political crisis, Nepal's main opposition party UCPN (Maoist) on Wednesday decided to boycott the meetings of parliamentary committees to press the ruling parties to come to a compromise, party leaders said.

Earlier, the party had decided not to attend the meetings of the constitution drafting process. According to leader Agni Sapkota, his party will not attend any meetings of parliamentary committees. Currently, there is no parliamentary session in Nepal.

The relations between the ruling and the opposition parties have come to a low point after the ruling parties on Sunday formed a Questionnaire Committee inside the Constituent Assembly (CA) aimed at pushing the statute drafting process through a voting process.
