Iran warned Israel via the United States over the recent killing of an Iranian military general by an Israeli chopper in Syria, Tehran Times daily reported on Wednesday quoting a senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official.
Following the killing of Mohammad-Ali Allahdadi, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) general by an Israeli chopper strike in the Syrian Golan Heights earlier this month, Iran cabled a message to the United States warning that "the Zionist regime's move breached Iran's redlines," Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday.
"In the message, we told the Americans that the officials of the Zionist regime (of Israel) must await the consequences of their action," Amir-Abdollahian said.
On Jan. 19, the IRGC confirmed the killing of Allahdadi in an Israeli airstrike on the Golan Heights in Syria that also killed six members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Allahdadi had traveled to Syria to provide consultation and help the Syrian government counter the terrorists. He also gave "decisive" consultation about ways to stop and thwart the Israeli regime's plots and crimes, said the IRGC statement. Endit
