Afghan parliament gives final approval to national budget

Xinhua, January 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Afghan Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of parliament on Wednesday gave final approval to a 436-billion- afghani (7.58 billion U.S. dollars) national budget for 1394 fiscal year on Persian calendar, reported the state run TV RTA.

The national budget of around 436 billion Afghanis (7.58 billion dollars), which was amended by the government after frequent rejections by lower house or the Wolesi Jirga on the ground of being imbalanced, was passed on Wednesday with majority of votes in favor, said the Lower House Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi in the report.

The national budget for the next Afghan year 1394, which begins on March 21, is 8 billion afghanis (139 million dollars) higher than that of 1393. The 1394 fiscal year began on Dec. 22 last year and ends on Dec. 21, 2015 as majority of the financial resources rely on international donors.

The budget included around 283 billion afghanis (4.92 billion dollars) for the operating budget and about 152 billion afghanis ( 2.64 billion dollars) for development budget. Endi
