Seoul shares ended higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 16.72 points, or 0.86 percent, to 1,952.40 at the close. Trading volume stood at 458.8 million shares worth 4.49 trillion won (4.16 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market rose to a three-month high at the close on Tuesday despite a drop in mining and oil stocks.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 45.4 points, or 0.83 percent, at 5,547.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index rose 43.3 points, or 0.79 percent, to 5,511.5.

The market reached its highest point since Nov. 7 last year, when the benchmark index hit 5549.1 points.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Tuesday with composite index unchanged at 1,405.68.

A total of 100,167 shares worth about 613 million Lao kip ( about 76,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.46 percent Tuesday with the weighted index up 43.92 points at 9,521.59, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 90.26 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.89 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 579.3 points on Tuesday, down 1.34 points, or 0.23 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 13.68 points, or 0.40 percent, to close at 3,412.20.

A total of 1.85 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 49 billion Singapore dollars (1.13 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 267 to 187, while 487 others finished unchanged.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 17.13 points, or 0.33 percent, to a level of 5,277.15 on Tuesday.

Some 223,962 transactions were booked, involving 5.19 billion shares worth 6.43 trillion rupiah (about 514.45 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,803.17, up 6. 73 points or 0.37 percent, and the Emas was at 12,398.44, up 27.76 points or 0.22 percent.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 1.50 points, or 0.09 percent to close at 1,589.81 points.

Some 13.41 billion shares worth 62.86 billion baht (about 1.93 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

BEIJING -- Chinese shares closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipping 0.89 percent to end at 3,352.96 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks market benchmark BSE Sensex Tuesday jumped 292.20 points to end at new closing high of 29,571.04 on optimism over Indo-U.S. nuclear deal amid sustained foreign fund inflows.
