Senior official meets Macao's security chief

China's security chief Meng Jianzhu called on security forces in the country's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to contribute to national security, the region's lasting prosperity and stability on Tuesday .

Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Wong Sio Chak, the SAR's secretary for security, in Beijing.

Security status remains good in Macao, which is a show of the regional security force's wisdom and strength, said Meng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Wong took office as the SAR's secretary for security on Dec. 20.

Meng said the leadership transition has gone smoothly, with morale high. He said he hoped the new leadership would fulfil their duty, contribute more to national security and ensure Macao's lasting prosperity and stability.

Wong said he would be responsible and devoted to his duty, while making efforts to safeguard Macao's stable public security status. Endi
