Xinhua, January 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nepalese government has formed a 29-member high-level panel under the leadership of foreign minister to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.

This was announced Monday by Dr. Minendra Rijal, spokesperson for the Nepalese government, in an interview with Xinhua in Kathmandu.

A meeting of the council of ministers held at Prime Minister's Office in the Nepalese capital on Monday decided to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China with various programs.

The two countries established diplomatic ties on August 1, 1955.

Talking to Xinhua, Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said the first meeting of the panel will work out detailed programs to mark the anniversary with grand success.

The 29-member panel will comprise secretaries from various ministries of Nepalese government, diplomats, Nepalese former ambassadors to China and personalities from business fraternities among others.

"We have started preparations to observe the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as decided during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Nepal from December 25- 27 last year," Pandey said.

The government officials involved in this development said the high-level panel headed by Foreign Minister Pandey will work out detailed programs to be organized throughout the year.

"Some programs will be hosted jointly and some will be organized independently by both countries in Kathmandu and Beijing on this occasion," the minister said.

"We have been giving top priority to our relations with China. We are planning to celebrate the year 2015 with a grand success by organizing various programs," the minister added. Endi
