South Korea leads Iraq 1-0 in Asian Cup semifinal first half

Xinhua, January 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

South Korea led 1-0 over Iraq in the first half of the 2015 Asian Cup semi-final here on Monday.

South Korea dominated the field well and almost made a score in the third minute when Mah Kyo-won only missed the ball in the box.

South Korea got another chance to take the lead in the 18th minute as a long shot from Son Heung-min found the target, but denied by Iraq's goalkeeper Jalal Hassan.

The first goal came in the 20th minute when Kim Jin-su took a free kick and sent the ball to the far edge of the six--yard box with a beautiful slight curl and Lee Jeong-hyeop rose to head it home.

The match is South Korea's third successive appearance at the AFC Asian Cup semi-finals, but they have a poor record in the fixture, not having reached a final since 1988. Endi
