China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,383.18 points Monday, up 0.94 percent.

Total turnover: 358.43 billion yuan (58.39 billion U.S. dollars) .

BEIJING -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 11,686.97 points Monday, up 2.19 percent.

Total turnover: 285.02 billion yuan (46.43 billion U.S. dollars) .

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended slightly lower on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 0.41 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,935.68 at the close. Trading volume stood at 327.12 million shares worth 3.9 trillion won (3.6 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.07 percent Monday with the weighted index up 6.73 points at 9,477.67, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 89.68 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.87 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks fell 0.25 percent on Monday.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 43.23 points, from Friday at 17,468.52.

The turnover was 1,796.7 billion yen (about 15.27 billion U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Monday down 0.56 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 7.90 points to 1,405.68. A total of 93,691 shares worth about 57 million Lao kip (about 71,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved up 59.45 points, or 0.24 percent, to close on Monday at 24,909.90 points.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,761.55 and 24, 916.49. Turnover totaled 83.76 billion HK dollars (about 10.81 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 580.64 points on Monday, down 1.74 points, or 0.3 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

About 139.906 million shares worth 2.446 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (114.01 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 103 stocks went up, 115 stocks fell down, while 69 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 87.01 points on Monday, up 0.15 points, or 0.17 percent, against the previous closing session.

A total of 56.859 million shares worth 608.014 billion Vietnamese dong (28.81 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, a decrease of 9.93 percent in volume and 13.12 percent in value against the previous closing session.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSEX (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday at 4,708.33 points, down 8.43 points or about 0.18 percent from Sunday.

Total turnover increased to about 2.04 billion taka (about 26. 20 million U.S. dollars) on Monday from about 2.23 billion taka ( about 28.62 million U.S. dollars) on Sunday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 12.98 points, or 0.38 percent, to close at 3,398.52.

A total of 1.41 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 48 billion Singapore dollars (1.12 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,796.44 down 6. 64 points or 0.37 percent, and the Emas was at 12,370.68 down 41. 42 points or 0.33 percent.

Turnover declined to 1.88 billion shares valued at 2.13 billion ringgit Malaysia (588.24 million U.S. dollars), compared with 2.61 billion shares valued at 3.13 billion ringgit Malaysia (868.36 million U.S. dollars) on last Friday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 98.94 points, or 1. 86 percent, to 5,224.95 on Monday.

Some 270,483 transactions were booked, involving 6.66 billion shares worth 11.05 trillion rupiah (about 882.56 million U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 10.02 points, or 0.63 percent to close at 1,588.31 points.
