Xinhua, January 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Latvian producer prices rose 0.4 percent in 2014 from a year before, the national statistics office reported Thursday.

Statistics show that last year producer prices went up 0.2 percent for domestically sold goods and 0.6 percent for export goods.

The steepest price hikes were recorded in water collection, treatment and supply, sewerage services, as well as manufacture of wood and wood products, except furniture.

Meanwhile, producer prices dropped for manufacturers of computers, electric and optical equipment, chemicals and chemical products, as well as electronic equipment.

In December 2014, Latvian producer prices grew 0.3 percent from the same month a year ago, with prices for domestically sold goods moving up 0.5 percent and prices for export goods rising 0.1 percent year-on-year.

The most significant price increase in December was recorded in power, heating and air conditioning supply, while the biggest price drop was recorded in food production.

Compared with November 2014, Latvian producer prices declined by 0.4 percent in December, with prices dropping 0.2 percent for domestically sold goods and 0.5 percent for exports.

The monthly decrease in December was caused by declining prices in manufacturing of transport vehicles and waste management. Enditem
