A South Korean had been kidnapped by gunmen in southern Philippine province of Lanao del Sur, police said on Thursday.

The victim, Song Ki Eon, who served as a mining company engineer in the city of Cagayan de Oro, was with Police Officer Roel Billiardo when he was taken by gunmen in the township of Saguiran in Lanao del Sur province, town police commander John Condo told a local radio station. SEOUL -- A shell explosion incident happened in a South Korean Navy battleship, leaving one soldier injured, local media reported Thursday.

The patrol killer guided missile boat (PKG) of the Second Fleet was sailing Wednesday afternoon to conduct a live fire exercise in the country's western waters. (South Korea-Explosion)

HANOI -- Three Chinese workers died and one other was injured while working at a hydropower project in northern Vietnam earlier on Tuesday, a local official told Xinhua on Thursday.

Tran Quy Duc, vice chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee, told Xinhua water was discharged into a conduit while four workers were working inside. Tragically the torrent swept them away. (Vietnam-Chinese-Hydropower Project)

SYDNEY -- Police on Thursday have reopened a popular tourist area in Sydney Harbor which was shut down earlier after a suspicious object, appearing to be a bomb, was found on a ferry.
