Cameroon draws 1-1 with Mali at African Cup

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ambroise Oyongo scored a late goal to help pre-game favorite Cameroon draw 1-1 with Mali at the African Cup of Nations on Tuesday.

Sambou Yatabare had given Mali a surprising lead in the 71st minute, controlling the ball with his chest and scoring from a tight angle after a free kick on the other side of the field.

Oyongo netted an equalizer in the 84th minute, beating Mali goalkeeper Soumaila Diakite in a close range after receiving a long pass from Raoul Loe.

Cameroon conceded only one goal in qualifying and came into the match as one of the favorites.

In an earlier game of Cameroon's Group D, Cote d'lvoire held Guinea to 1-1 at the so-called "group of death".

Cameroon will get another chance to show what it can do on Saturday against Guinea. Endi
