Dutch police on Tuesday searched in the parental home of an 18-year-old jihad suspect from Utrecht, the public prosecutor declared.

During the anti-terrorist operation in the east Belgian town of Verviers last Thursday, in which two people were killed, the passport of alleged jihadist Zaid K. from Utrecht was found.

The suspect is allegedly part of a Belgian cell of jihadists and the Belgian authorities passed the information to their Dutch counterparts.

In September last year his parents reported to the Dutch police that their son was missing. His current whereabouts are unknown. In his parental home in the Utrecht neighborhood Overvecht, where he used to live, the police seized laptops and phones.

The public prosecutor started a criminal investigation into the man because of his alleged involvement in terrorist crimes. Endit
