Germany's benchmark DAX index advances slightly

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday advanced by 0.14 percent and closed at 10,257.13 points.

Investors are expecting the European Central Bank (ECB) to announce government bond purchases on Thursday.

"The flood of money by central banks has for years been the most important fuel for the equity markets," said the German business daily Handelsblatt.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG lead the risers' list with an increase of 4.82 percent. ThyssenKrupp AG advanced by 2.55 percent. The agriculture company K+S Aktiengesellschaft added 2.34 percent. LANXESS AG climbed by 1.96 percent and Deutsche Borse AG went up by 1.93 percent.

SAP SE which published its Q4 data fell the most by 4.59 percent. Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, adidas AG, Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. and Merck KGaA also lost 0.88 percent, 0.71 percent, 0.57 percent and 0.51 percent respectively. Endit
