Former coach of Chelsea Avrant Grant on Monday made a losing start with Ghana at the on-going 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

The Black Stars of Ghana lost 2-1 to their West African rivals Senegal in a Group C match played at the Mongomo Stadium, Equatorial Guinea.

Mame Biram Diouf and Moussa Sow scored second half goals to give the Lions of Teranga maximum points. It was also the first time Senegal was beating Ghana in an Afcon competition.

Ghana skipper Andre Ayew who plies his trade in France netted the opening goal in the 12th minute from the penalty spot. Ayew who had been brought down in the box by Senegal's goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul converted the penalty with lots of confidence.

Ghana continued to dominate play against the physical Senegal team. Diouf's hard shot for Senegal in the 34th minute was blocked by the Black Stars goalie Razak Braimah.

On return from the dressing room, the Senegal team piled lots of pressure on the Black Stars. Diouf who plays club football with Stoke City in the England Premier League finally made it 1-1 after heading in a well taken long cross that the defenders failed to put-out.

The Senegal team created several scoring opportunities until Sow ensured the win with a goal in injury time. Endite
