Injury rules out Zambia's Sinkala out of Afcon

Xinhua, January 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Zambia's Nathan Sinkala has been ruled out the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Cup due to a knee injury.

Dr. Joseph Kabungo, the team doctor said the player injured his knee during their match with DR Congo on Sunday.

The TP Mazembe midfielder limped off in the 85th minute in the game against DR Congo and was replaced Nkana defender, Christopher Munthali. Kabungo confirmed that Sinkala had a ligament tear in the knee

Sinkala's departure is a blow to Zambia in that defensive midfield department that he has made his own since the deputy team captain made his competitive debut at the 2012 Africa Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

Zambia who won the Afcon trophy in 2012 will next face Tunisia on January 22 at the Ebebiyin Stadium. They will face Cape Verde in their last Group B game on January 26th. Endite
