Hitachi to cooperate with power utility on power suppliers support

Xinhua, January 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Japanese multinational conglomerate company Hitachi Ltd. will cooperate with Japanese electricity utility Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) in providing cloud-based business support services intended for power suppliers, Jiji Press reported Monday.

The new service, called "ePower Cloud", will offer systems utilizing the Internet for business and back-office operations, including record-keeping on electricity sales, power fee calculations and accounting.

Hitachi Systems Power Services Ltd., a Hitachi unit that is also partly owned by TEPCO, will offer the service, starting in March, mainly to businesses planning to start power supply services when the country fully liberalizes electricity retailing in 2016.

It also plans to expand operations overseas in the future.

Hitachi Systems Power Services, spun off from TEPCO's system operation business in March 2014, currently provides services to TEPCO. Endi
