Vietnam calls for continued Danish ODA on climate change

Xinhua, January 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Vietnam has urged Denmark to maintain official development assistance (ODA) for the country in response to climate change, rising sea level, environmental protection, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday.

Dung made the remarks at a meeting held in capital Hanoi on Monday with Mogens Jensen, Danish trade and development minister who is on a working visit in Vietnam.

Expressing his belief that the visit by Jensen will make positive contribution to bilateral relations, Dung said he expected the two countries to further cooperate in the areas of economics, trade, and investment.

Vietnamese government always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for foreign companies, including Danish enterprises, to conduct successful business in Vietnam, the Vietnamese government' s website quoted Dung as saying on Monday.

The Vietnamese leader also said he believed that the soon ratification of Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) as well as the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) will provide chances for further cooperation between Vietnam and the EU, including with Denmark.

Jensen, for his part, said at the meeting that Denmark always attaches great importance to the cooperation with Vietnam in all areas.

Affirming that his country always supports the EU and Vietnam to sign the FTA, the Danish guest said the EU-Vietnam FTA, which is expected to be signed in 2015, will bring benefits to Denmark and Vietnam as well as strongly boost bilateral cooperation. Endi
