Roundup: Afghan militancy, counter militancy kill 7, wound 8 within day

The Taliban-led militancy and security forces counter operations have left seven people dead, including four militants, and injured eight others since Monday morning.
"Four insurgents were killed and another injured as the security forces backed by air power pounded Taliban hideouts in Khogyani district of the eastern Nangarhar province Monday morning, " a local television channel Tolo reported in its news bulletin.
In another violent incident also in the eastern Laghman province bordering Nangarhar, two Afghan soldiers lost their lives and another injured as a roadside bomb struck military vehicle.
"A roadside bomb organized by militants struck a vehicle of the national army martyring two soldiers and wounding another," spokesman for Laghman provincial government, Sarhadi Zawak told reporters.
Moreover, a blast rocked Khost city the capital of eastern Khost province at noon time, leaving one person dead and wounding six others, all civilians, according to police.
Meanwhile, security personnel have discovered a huge weapon cache in Badakhshan province with Faizabad as its capital 315 km northeast of Kabul, chief of national directorate for security in the province, Amir Shah Sadat said Monday.
"The cache containing arms and ammunitions including rocket propelled grenades, 82 mm caliber guns and explosive objects was discovered from Tagab district during cleanup operations continued there over the past few days," Sadat told reporters at a press conference.
Tagab district has been the scene of Taliban-led militancy over the past couple of months.
The cleanup operations in Tagab district would last for few more days to stabilize security there, the official further said.
