International designers, brands light up Hong Kong Fashion Week

The 46th Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and the 13th World Boutique Hong Kong opened here on Monday, with some 1,800 exhibitors from around the world taking part in, lighting up the biggest annual fashion gala in Asia.

A variety of novel and functional fabrics will be on display during the Fashion Week. The Taiwan Sweater Industry Association will present its sweaters that use nanotechnology to generate and remain warmth so as to increase body temperature by two degrees centigrade or more.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong company Nano Mintex will showcase its products that use nanotechnology in clothing tailored to outdoor activities.

The World Boutique Hong Kong featured a record number of more than 660 local and international brands, with over 30 fashion shows showcased to the public.

The events, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, expected 118 buying missions from 43 countries and regions, consisting of over 6,000 buyers from over 4,200 companies.

In addition, a city-wide "Hong Kong in Fashion 2015" promotion is under way across the city to highlight Hong Kong's design talents and raise the profile of the Fashion Week and World Boutique activities.

The promotion included money-saving discounts as well as games, workshops, displays and exhibitions at various venues across Hong Kong. Endi
