Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall St. gains, rebounding crude

Tokyo stocks opened modestly higher early Monday on Wall Street gains and rebounding crude oil prices.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 159.88 points, or 0.95 percent, from Friday to 17,024.04.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 9.27 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,373. 00.

All industry sectors were up except for rubber product makers and airlines. Endi
