Australian business confidence low for 2015: survey

Xinhua, January 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Australian business sector has low expectations for 2015, according to a new survey released on Monday.

The December quarter survey of investor confidence by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry showed a major fall in sentiment, and business profitability expectation fell to its lowest point in the survey's 23-year history.

Expectations of the national economy were low in the December quarter, showing businesses expect conditions to get worse over the next three months.

Businesses said the top five constraints were insufficient demand, taxes and charges, local and overseas competition and non- wage labor costs.

However, those surveyed expected the number of full-time employees to be at the highest level since the March quarter 2011 survey. Endi
