Egyptian president starts two-day official visit to UAE

Xinhua, January 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Sunday with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Vice President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum in Abu Dhabi.

Following an official greeting ceremony at al-Moshref Palace, the two sides held talks covering the latest developments in the region, mainly the Syrian crisis and the situation in Libya, Yemen and Iraq, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

As part of the two-day official visit, Sisi also held two separate meetings with delegations of Egyptian and UAE businessmen at his residence, which come as part of Egypt's efforts to lure foreign investments.

The Egyptian president is expected to attend the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi, and he will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony.

The UAE is a staunch supporter of Sisi, who is the former commander-in-chief of the Egyptian army and won the June 2014 presidential elections in Egypt. Endit
