Russian DM due in Tehran eyeing defense cooperation

Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will arrive in the capital Tehran on Monday for an official visit, Press TV reported on Sunday.

During his two-day visit, the Russian defense minister will discuss bilateral issues as well as international developments with his Iranian counterpart.

Iran and Russia are also expected to ink memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation, according to the report.

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan has said that it is essential for Tehran and Moscow to bolster defense cooperation, and further expansion of cooperation will play major role in maintaining regional and global security. Endit
