An official with the human resources department of Hengshui City in north China's Hebei Province was sentenced to 10 years for abuse of power and accepting bribes, authorities said on Sunday.

Wang Gaoyang, deputy head of the endowment insurance department of the city's human resources bureau, was found guilty of helping 280 people retire early from 2008 to 2009 by faking their medical records, according to the court verdict.

He was also convicted of accepting bribes worth more than 431,500 yuan.

Wang was taken into custody in November 2013.

The proceeds from Wang's crimes were returned to the state, the court said. Endi
