Bahrain arrests individuals suspected of connection with terrorist groups

Xinhua, January 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bahrain arrested a group of individuals who travelled to Syria recently and were suspected of having connections with foreign terrorist groups, said the Bahrain's Interior Ministry on Friday.

The ministry did not reveal the identities of the individuals and any charges against them, just noting that the investigation into the case will continue.

In May 2014, the Interior Ministry summoned a number of people who were suspected of travelling to conflict areas, and warned that Bahrainis proven guilty will be banned from travelling abroad while foreigners will be deported immediately.

Bahrain also warned last year of legal actions including the withdrawal of nationality for those convicted of joining terrorist groups. Endit
