Eurozone inflation rate down to -0.2 pct in Dec.

Eurozone inflation rate fell to -0.2 percent in December 2014, the lowest level since September 2009, the statistical office of the European Union (EU) Eurostat said Friday.

The data also showed that the 28-nation EU annual inflation rate was -0.1 percent in December 2014.

Both area's figures are well below the rate of a year earlier, showing a dangerous sign that deflation is coming closer.

In December 2014, negative annual rates were observed in sixteen member states. The lowest annual rates were registered in Greece (-2.5) percent, Bulgaria (-2.0) percent, Spain (-1.1) percent and Cyprus (-1.0) percent. Endit
