Struggling Granada sack coach Caparros

Struggling Spanish BBVA Primera Liga side, Granada sacked coach Joaquin Caparros on Friday afternoon.

The experienced coach has paid the price for a dreadful run of results without a win in the league since Sept. 20.

That run of form has seen Granada slip from a positive looking start to the campaign to bottom of the league table.

Caparros' last game in charge was a 4-0 hammering to Seville on Wednesday which saw Granada knocked out of the King's Cup with barely a whimper.

"Granada Football Club informs that the coach, Joaquin Caparros has been sacked as coach of the first team squad," informed the club website, adding that B-team coach, Joseba Aguado will take control of the side from Sunday's difficult trip to play Atletico Madrid in the Vicente Calderon.

Caparros arrived at Granada last summer and his arrival had provoked high hopes after successful spells with Levante, Athletic Club Bilbao, Deportivo la Coruna and Sevilla.

Abel Resino, who had a spell in charge during the 2011-12 season is reported to be lined up to be named as Caparros' successor at the start of next week. Endit
