The controversial law allows government and intelligence agencies to track phone and internet use of citizens by forcing telecom operators to set up separate databases specifically for police investigation.

-- The German economy has grown more strongly than expected. Germany's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1.5 percent last year, following meager growth of 0.4 percent in 2012 and 0.1 percent in 2013, German federal statistical office Destatis said on Thursday.
