U.S. and partner countries' military forces have conducted a total of 22 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq within a 24-hour period, the U.S. Defense Department said Thursday.
A total of 11 air raids, which took place between Wednesday morning to Thursday morning local time, were conducted near Kobani, Ar Raqqah and Al Hasakah in northern Syria, destroying six IS buildings, six fighting positions, two tactical units, four vehicles and a checkpoint, according to a press release on the Pentagon website.
Meanwhile, 11 airstrikes in seven regions across Iraq destroyed seven IS tactical units, four buildings, two fighting positions, seven boats, three vehicles and a mortar system, it added.
"The destruction of IS targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group's ability to project terror and conduct operation," said the release.
Coalition countries conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U. S., Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Those conducting airstrikes in Syria include the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Endite
