Sri Lanka's new PM assures continued cooperation with China

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has promised continued cooperation with China during his meeting with the Chinese ambassador, a press release from the Chinese Embassy said here on Thursday.

Sri Lanka attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and is willing to further strengthen bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields for mutual benefits and win-win results, said Prime Minister Wickremesinghe who took office on Friday.

Sri Lanka encourages more Chinese companies to invest and do their business in Sri Lanka, Wickremesinghe said when meeting with Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao on Wednesday.

The prime minister recalled that the friendly relations between China and Sri Lanka have withstood the test of time.

Ambassador Wu said China is willing to further develop its ties with Sri Lanka based on bilateral agreements and consensus. Endi
