The 21st meeting of the Council for Mekong River Commission (MRC) opened here on Thursday, calling for assistance from its development partners for activities of the MRC during 2016-2020 period.

ISLAMABAD -- At least six people were killed and two others wounded when a U.S. drone launched missiles in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan Thursday night, local media reported.

Geo TV said the pilotless aircraft fired two missiles at a house believed to be a hideout of suspected militants in Ladha area of South Waziristan, a semi-autonomous tribal area along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. (Pakistan-U.S.-Drone Strike)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- Five militants were killed on Thursday in a fierce gunfight with the Indian troops and police in the restive Indian-controlled Kashmir,police said.

The gunfight erupted at Kellar forest area of Shopian district, about 83 km south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian- controlled Kashmir.

"Five militants have been killed in an encounter with police and army in Gader forests in Keller area of Shopian today," a police spokesman said. "The operation to track down militants was carried out on a tip off." (India-Kashmir-Gunfight)
