Iceland sees increase of foreign visitor overnight stays last November

Iceland saw an increase of foreign tourists' overnight stays in hotels by 24 percent in November 2014, compared with the same period of 2013, figures showed on Thursday.

According to statistics issued by the Statistics Iceland, the total overnight stays in hotels in Iceland rose to 160,294 in November 2014, from 137,675 in November 2013, increasing by 16 percent.

Meanwhile, the nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 83 percent of the total overnight stays in November, increasing by 24 percent compared with the figure in November 2013. At the same time, the overnight stays of Icelanders decreased by 10 percent.

The number of overnight stays from December 2013 to November 2014 was 2,294,920, increasing by 13 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

The nights spent by foreign tourists rose to 1,956,869 in the past 12 months from 1,680,257 nights of the previous year. Endit
