ADB to increase annual assistance to Tajikistan

Xinhua, January 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will increase its annual assistance to Tajikistan by around 20 million U.S. dollars, the bank's country office said on Thursday.

C.C. Yu, director of the ADB Resident Office in Dushanbe, said that the ADB will increase its annual allocation to Tajikistan by some 20 million dollars, raising the bank's planned assistance to the country in 2015 to 79 million dollars.

The assistance will be used to boost the development of Tajikistan's private sector, railways and water resources, and also used to improve the country's investment climate.

Since Tajikistan joined ADB in 1998, the bank has approved an accumulated assistance worth about 1.3 billion dollars in concessional loans, grants, and technical support to the country.

The ADB-Tajikistan partnership has been committed to promoting social development, upgrading and building infrastructure, expanding agricultural production, and encouraging regional cooperation and trade. Endi
