Pakistan's parliament on Thursday strongly condemned the publication of blasphemous cartoons on a French magazine and said the action has hurt the religious sentiments of over 1 billion Muslims across the world.
The French magazine Charlie Hebdo has again published controversial depiction of the Prophet Mohammad after al-Qaeda attacked on its office and killed 12 people.
"These cartoons are a conspiracy to create misunderstanding among civilizations," a Pakistani National Assembly's resolution said.
The resolution was moved by Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, and the Lower House of parliament unanimously passed it.
"The House strongly condemns the printing of blasphemous caricature of Holy Prophet Muhammad," the resolution reads.
The resolution called on the international community including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the European Union to take action against publishing such material.
The House maintained that such moves by Charlie Hebdo are against freedom of expression, and said "ridiculous religious material is condemnable."
Islamic parties have announced to hold rallies in Pakistan on Friday. Endi
